Silver strand

Isn't that a beautiful name for a beach? Silver strand... it just rolls off your tongue and is even fun to say. Siiiilllveeer strand... but enough waxing lyrical...
Silver strand is where we were today. It's a beach that's part of Galway Bay, close to the popular area Strandhill (sea promenade, diving board, amusement park, aquarium - you get the picture) And speaking of pictures, I'm sorry to say I don't have any. Neither James nor I brought a camera. Which is probably just as well, we kinda had our hands full keeping track of two active boys near the sea. Saturday night the whole family was in Galway for a joint birthday party for Laura and Eamon. After the festivities, we decided to all meet up at silver strand the next day. James and his siblings would go to Galway during summers when they were younger to spend time with their Aunt Margaret (Maura's sister) and Uncle Padraig (Simon's brother) and their four kids. Silver strand wasn't far from the house, and they would spend a good bit of time there no matter what the weather. The day had turned a bit rainy as we headed towards the beach, and we waited in the car for about 10 minutes as it passed. But pass it did, the sun came out, and we trucked onto the sand with Eamonn and Tomas in tow. Before long, shoes and socks were off, trousers rolled up and we were all playing in the shallows and small waves. As the day progressed, more clothes came off of the boys and they were further into the waves. By the time we decided they'd had enough, Eamonn was completely naked and waist deep, with Tomas getting a nappy full not too far behind him, and both of them laughing hysterically at the waves and having a grand old time! The smiles on their faces were priceless - they had such a good time! The tide started coming in fairly quickly tho, the waves were getting bigger and the wind picked up a good bit. We put them in dry warm clothes and they were quite content to hang out in the car out of the wind munching on a variety of snacks we'd brought along for the trip. Needless to say, they both slept soundly on the way home :)
