March 17th, a time when the weather is usually fairly brutal (in like a lion...) but this year it was absolutely gorgeous. Warm, sunny brilliant day. Here at the lake it was fairly windy but out at the family farm all was calm. We weren't sure what we were going to do with the day when we got the invite to dinner (lunch). We never turn down one of Maura's dinners, she's too good a cook! This is one of my favorite times of year at the farm, when the lambs start coming along. They love to run up and nibble on your fingers or just generally beg for goodies. Eamonn got a taste of what some of the new lambs have to offer:
Later Eamonn and I went for a walk up to the slatted house (where some of the cattle are kept in the winter) chasing after more baby lambs and a couple of hens. Eamonn doesn't move that quickly so they weren't very threatened, but they kept moving just enough to keep him interested. The only time we ran into a problem was when he went into the barn and saw the bulls and thought it would be fun to "pet" them. He couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him. But that subsequent temper fit notwithstanding, the rest of the day was lovely :)
